Scabal Dali's collection
|
Scabal has a thing about art and has always broken new grounds in the field of fabric design with the independent and creative spirit of anartist. The link with Dali goes beyond a shared philosophy. Almost 40 years ago, Scabal asked Dali to draw 12 paintings representing his view of man and fashion in the 21st century. Fabrics: "Dali's collection" These paintings have inspired Scabal to create a unique collection of 24 fabrics. Scabal has been more extravagant and frivolous in its designs than normal. Above all, Scabal wanted to faithfully reproduce the innovative and colourful character of Dali’s style in this new fabric collection, called simply “Dali’s Collection”.

The fabrics are woven from pure wool in Scabal’s own mill in Huddersfield (England). The comfortable weight of the fabric (300 grams) is pleasant to wear. Every design is unique and reproduces the spirit of all of Dalí‘s pictures in an abstract manner, either in the form of the design or in the colour combination. >> Discover the fabrics pictures in the Fabrics Catalogue London College of Fashion Scabal worked with the London College of Fashion on this exceptional project. Scabal asked second-year students to interpret Dalí‘s drawings during their “Bespoke Tailoring” course and to create actual garments. The twenty students and their tutors had total freedom to add other aspects to the traditional “Bespoke Tailoring”, such as theatrical elements and digital prints which allowed them to pleasantly combine contemporary high technology with the traditional tailor’s profession.
